The Government of Punjab, alongside the Traffic Police, has announced a major upgrade to the driving licence delivery system across the province. Soon, applicants will be able to track the exact real-time physical delivery status and location of their driving licence cards online.

To implement this project, authorities have partnered with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). PITB will connect Pakistan Post's delivery tracking framework directly into the existing Driving Licence Information Management System (DLIMS) portal.

What Changes for Punjab Drivers?

Currently, the DLIMS online portal only allows users to check whether their driving licence card is being processed or printed. Once the new system goes live, citizens will get step-by-step transparency throughout the entire dispatch cycle:

  • Printing and Dispatch: Instant updates when the traffic police hand over your completed card to the post office.

  • Live Transit Status: Real-time visibility showing where your card is during courier transit.

  • Doorstep Delivery: Clear updates confirming expected delivery timelines to your registered home address.

Why Was This Upgrade Needed?

In the past, thousands of applicants faced long delays receiving their hard-copy licence cards. The traffic police also lacked a direct, centralized way to verify courier delivery data or solve delivery complaints efficiently.

Linking DLIMS with postal tracking solves this issue by improving institutional accountability and removing customer uncertainty.

Modernizing Digital Governance in Punjab

This initiative reflects Punjab's commitment to expanding e-governance and public service efficiency. By combining automated tracking with DLIMS digital management, the government aims to eliminate unnecessary visits to licence centers and deliver cards promptly.
