The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and global tech giant Google have officially joined hands to protect children on the internet. Both organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to teach children, parents, and teachers how to use digital platforms safely and responsibly.
This special project aims to build simple safety habits, educate families, and provide practical tools to keep kids safe from online dangers.
What Is the New Child Safety Program?
Under this new agreement, PTA and Google will run a nationwide Child Safety Program. The project will focus on easy-to-understand learning materials and practical guides.
Key steps include:
Guides in Local Languages: Safety content and simple video guides will be created in Urdu, English, and regional Pakistani languages.
School Workshops: Special training sessions will take place in schools and colleges to guide students and teachers.
Parenting Resources: Parents will get easy digital tools and tips to monitor and guide their children's internet use at home.
Nationwide Outreach: The campaign plans to connect millions of Pakistani families with free safety tutorials and online support.
Why Is This Partnership Important?
As more young kids use smartphones and tablets for studying, gaming, and watching videos, keeping them safe from harmful content has become a top priority.
Speaking at the ceremony, PTA Chairman Maj. Gen. (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman emphasized that protecting children on the internet requires teamwork between government bodies, tech companies, and parents.
Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, PTA Member for Compliance and Enforcement, added that teaching basic digital literacy helps young users build safe habits that last a lifetime.
Google's Growing Role in Pakistan
This agreement follows Google's recent official presence in Pakistan, marking a big step forward for the country's tech ecosystem. Through these programs, both PTA and Google aim to build a friendly, secure, and educational online space for every child in Pakistan.
