Petrol and High-Speed Diesel Prices Cut in Pakistan, Offering Relief to Consumers

The federal government has reduced the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan, providing some relief to consumers. The price of petrol has been cut by Rs2.20 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs1.50 per litre.

The government continues to collect Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on high-speed diesel.

Before the latest mechanism, the government had been revising petroleum prices on a weekly basis and, previously, on a fortnightly basis.

The All Pakistan Dealers Association had rejected the daily pricing mechanism and indicated that it could consider a protest plan against the decision.
