The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a new increase in petrol and diesel prices across Pakistan. According to an official notification issued on Monday, the new rates take effect from August 18, 2026.

The federal government has notified these updated prices for the specified official period.

New Fuel Rates Breakdown

  • Petrol Price: Increased by Rs 5.77 per litre, bringing the updated retail price to Rs 331.20 per litre.

  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Increased by Rs 6.47 per litre, raising the official price to Rs 390.42 per litre.

Petroleum Dealers Talks and Strike Updates

This latest price revision follows high-level negotiations between government officials and petroleum dealers. Representatives of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) met with Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik in Islamabad to discuss key demands.

Although the five-hour meeting ended without a complete resolution, both sides reached important decisions:

  1. Daily Price Adjustments: The government declined to cancel the system of daily fuel price adjustments.

  2. Dealers' Margin: The government agreed to consider a Rs 1.34 per litre increase in dealer profit margins. However, this proposal requires official review and approval from the Federal Cabinet.

In response to unresolved issues, the delegation returned to Karachi to convene an emergency executive committee meeting to chart their next steps regarding nation-wide pump operations.
