The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released its latest Mark-to-Market Exchange Rates for August 13, 2026. The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) experienced a slight movement against major international currencies, while continuing its remarkable phase of overall stability within the interbank market.

The US Dollar settled at 277.6522 PKR in the ready market, shifting by roughly two paisas compared to previous sessions. Over the past two months, the USD-PKR exchange rate has remained constrained within a tight 46-paisa trading band between 277.65 and 278.11 PKR.

Today's Exchange Rates in Pakistan (Interbank)

According to the latest exchange rates, the US Dollar (USD) stands at 277.6522 PKR, while the British Pound (GBP) and Euro (EUR) are trading at 374.2613 PKR and 319.9803 PKR, respectively. In the Gulf region, the Saudi Riyal (SAR) is valued at 73.9499 PKR and the UAE Dirham (AED) rests at 75.5989 PKR. Meanwhile, the Canadian Dollar (CAD) is priced at 199.0125 PKR, the Australian Dollar (AUD) at 195.6615 PKR, the Chinese Yuan (CNY) at 41.1623 PKR, and the Japanese Yen (JPY) trades at 1.7421 PKR.

Impact on Remittances from the Gulf

For millions of households reliant on Gulf remittances, the minor exchange rate fluctuations mean virtually no change in daily budgets.

  • Saudi Riyal (SAR): At 73.9499 PKR, sending 1,000 Riyals yields approximately 73,950 PKR.

  • UAE Dirham (AED): At 75.5989 PKR, 1,000 Dirhams translates to roughly 75,599 PKR.

Because Gulf currencies remain pegged directly to the US Dollar, their values move in lockstep with USD performance, offering long-term predictability for Pakistani workers abroad.

GBP Dip Brings Relief for Students and Businesses

The British Pound saw a notable decline of about 60 paisas to 374.2613 PKR. This dip offers welcome financial relief to:

  • Students Studying in the UK: Families transferring tuition fees save approximately 60,000 PKR on a 15,000 GBP annual payment.

  • Importers & Medical Expenses: Businesses sourcing British machinery and individuals funding healthcare costs in London benefit from lower transaction costs.

Market Outlook & Forward Curves

Short-term forward rates indicate that the interbank market expects steady, controlled conditions without sudden currency shocks:

  • 1-Month USD Forward: Priced at 279.2806 PKR (suggesting ~63 paisas of depreciation over 30 days).

  • 3-Month USD Forward: Positioned at 281.9594 PKR.

  • 6-Month USD Forward: Positioned at 284.6037 PKR.

High domestic interest rates (11.50%) and foreign exchange reserves continue to cushion the Rupee against sharp market fluctuations.
