The Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) is the primary legal document verifying citizenship and identity for every Pakistani citizen, both at home and abroad. Issued exclusively by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), it is required for opening bank accounts, purchasing SIM cards, traveling, buying property, and accessing government services.
Except for senior citizens who receive lifetime validity, standard CNICs carry a fixed expiration period. Beyond expiration, citizens frequently face situations where their card is mislaid, stolen, or physically damaged.
Visiting a physical NADRA Registration Center (NRC) often requires standing in queue for hours. To solve this, NADRA provides the PakID mobile app, allowing citizens to apply for a replacement CNIC online from their smartphone.
When Should You Apply for a "Reprint" or Replacement?
Before beginning your digital application, it is important to select the correct category on the portal:
Reprint (Duplicate): Choose this option if your CNIC is lost, stolen, or physically broken, and all your personal information remains unchanged.
Renewal: Select this if your identity card has crossed its official expiry date.
Modification: Use this if you need to update personal details (such as marital status, address, or name spelling).
What You Need Before Starting
To ensure your digital replacement application moves forward without delays, have the following ready:
A Smartphone with Internet & Location Access: Download the official PakID app (listed as Pak Identity) from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Your 13-Digit CNIC Number: Know your identity number, date of birth, and issuing details.
No Extra Documents Required: For a simple replacement (reprint) with no data modifications, no supporting physical documents or police FIR reports are needed. Your record is already saved in NADRA's central system.
Valid Online Payment Method: Debit/Credit card, Raast QR, or digital mobile wallets (Easypaisa / JazzCash).

Upon successful payment, you will receive a unique Tracking ID to monitor your delivery status.
NADRA Fee Structure & Processing Times
The official NADRA fee for a duplicate/reprint CNIC depends on whether you hold a standard card or a Smart NIC, as well as the priority category chosen:
The official NADRA replacement fee for a Smart NIC duplicate is Rs. 750 for Normal processing (approx. 31 days), Rs. 1,500 for Urgent (approx. 23 days), and Rs. 2,500 for Executive delivery (approx. 9 days). For a Standard CNIC duplicate, the fee is Rs. 400 for Normal (approx. 15 days), Rs. 1,150 for Urgent (approx. 12 days), and Rs. 2,150 for Executive service (approx. 6 days).
(Note: Standard doorstep courier delivery within Pakistan typically adds Rs. 165 to the total order).
Essential Security Advice for Lost Cards
If you have lost your physical CNIC card, take these protective measures immediately:
Verify Registered SIM Cards: Send your 13-digit CNIC number via SMS to 668 or check the PTA portal (cnic.sims.pk) to view all mobile numbers registered under your identity.
Block Unknown Numbers: Immediately visit the respective telecom franchise to block any unauthorized SIM card active under your CNIC.
Avoid Unofficial Agents: Never pay unauthorized third-party agents or social media operators offering quick CNIC delivery. Only use official NADRA channels.
