Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the addition of seven new electric buses to Sargodha’s public transit system. This step aims to make city travel easier, cheaper, and more eco-friendly for local residents.
The announcement came during a meeting with a delegation of Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) from Sargodha. The lawmakers thanked the Chief Minister for fulfilling public transit demands and completing the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in record time.
Key Highlights of the Sargodha Transport Expansion
Seven New Electric Buses: Added to meet high passenger demand across key urban and suburban routes.
Comfortable & Clean Travel: Thousands of commuters—including women, students, and daily workers—are already benefiting from zero-emission buses.
Monitoring Civic Services: The CM directed local MPAs to personally oversee the Suthra Punjab Programme, clean water initiatives, and local Model Village projects.
Rs 1 Billion Approved for Sargodha Road Projects
To fix traffic bottlenecks and repair damaged streets, the Punjab government approved eight major road construction and rehabilitation schemes worth Rs 1 billion under the Own Source Revenue framework:
City Market Roads (Rs 175.79 Million): Major repairs for Dairy Road, Azad Road, New Urdu Bazaar Road, Grain Market Road, Pilot School Road, and Ara Market Road.
Khayam Chowk Overhead Bridge (Rs 88.98 Million): Structural repairs and maintenance to improve traffic safety.
Johar Colony to Fatima Jinnah Road (Rs 228.67 Million): Comprehensive rehabilitation connecting Gillwala Railway Crossing to Haripurah Bridge.
Stadium Gate & Hospital Route (Rs 164.64 Million): Upgrades along Shama Chowk to Stadium Gate, including the link road to Cheema Heart Centre.
Bhagtanwala & Kot Momin Links (Rs 127.71 Million): Restoration of Main Bazaar Bhagtanwala Road and the Lahore Road–Bhirowal link.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that every district in Punjab will receive equal development funding to upgrade public services and improve quality of life.
