Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that he will personally lead a major street movement demanding the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Addressing party members and workers during a one-day official visit to Bannu, Chief Minister Afridi urged supporters to prepare thoroughly for a scheduled protest march on September 27, promising that the movement would mark a defining turning point for the nation.

Calls for Peace and Criticism of Current Governance

During his speech in Bannu, CM Afridi shared deep concerns regarding the security situation in the province:

  • Security Breakdown: He noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa enjoyed relative peace until 2022, but argued that decisions made by current federal authorities have severely damaged local security.

  • Sacrifices of the Province: He emphasized that the people of KP have endured decades of instability and made endless sacrifices for peace, warning that policies decided "behind closed doors" will no longer be accepted.

  • Standing for Public Rights: Afridi reiterated that the provincial leadership will firmly oppose any decisions or policies that harm the interests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its citizens.

Full Backing for KP Police and Infrastructure Growth

Addressing peace and regional stability, Chief Minister Afridi underlined that sustainable development is impossible without law and order.

He highlighted that the provincial government is investing heavily in modernizing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force. Billions of rupees are being allocated toward upgrading police infrastructure, purchasing advanced equipment, and providing top-tier tactical training so officers can protect citizens effectively.

Commitment to the September 27 Protest March

Reaffirming his commitment to PTI founder Imran Khan, Chief Minister Afridi stated that Khan remains unfairly imprisoned while fighting for the future of the nation. He declared that the provincial leadership and its supporters will take to the streets in full force on September 27, with him leading the march from the front.
