The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a free Proof of Life Certificate service for all Pakistani pensioners. This new initiative allows retired civil and military workers to verify their life status digitally without having to travel to banks or government offices every six months.
Introduced under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the service aims to solve long-standing biometric verification issues for senior citizens, bedridden individuals, and special needs pensioners.
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Get the Certificate Using PakID App
You can quickly complete your verification from home using a smartphone:
Download the App: Install the official PakID mobile app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Log In or Sign Up: Open the app and create an account using your mobile number and email address. If you already have an account, log in.
Select Proof of Life: Navigate to the main menu and select the Proof of Life Certificate option.
Complete Biometric Verification: Use your smartphone camera to perform facial recognition or fingerprint scanning as prompted by the app.
Family Assistance: If an elderly pensioner cannot use a smartphone, a family member can use their own PakID account to verify identity and obtain the certificate on the pensioner’s behalf.
Other Easy Ways to Get Your Certificate
If you cannot access the mobile app, NADRA provides several physical and doorstep options free of cost:
e-Sahulat Outlets: Over 5,000 e-Sahulat franchise centers across Pakistan offer quick verification.
NADRA Centers & Union Councils: More than 988 NADRA Registration Centers and 500 Union Councils handle pensioner verification on a priority basis without long queues.
Doorstep Services: For bedridden or mobility-impaired pensioners, NADRA Mobile Registration Vans and Biker Services can visit home directly to process the verification.
How the National Pensioners Register Works
NADRA has integrated this verification with a newly created National Pensioners Register.
Automated Data Sharing: Whenever a death is registered through NADRA’s Civil Registration system or health facilities, relevant pension departments receive automatic daily updates.
Bank Access: Authorized banks can check a pensioner's life status directly through the central register, preventing unnecessary pension account freezes.
No Extra Paperwork: The system eliminates the need to submit physical paper forms to multiple offices repeatedly.
