Gold prices in Pakistan experienced a fresh surge on Monday, August 17, 2026, following a steady rise in global market rates. The increase comes as ongoing political tensions across the world push investors toward safe investments like precious metals.

Updated Gold Rates in Pakistan

According to official figures released by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), local gold prices recorded significant gains across all weights:

  • 24-Karat Gold (Per Tola): Increased by Rs. 2,000, reaching Rs. 461,936 compared to Rs. 459,936 in the previous market session.

  • 24-Karat Gold (Per 10 Grams): Rose by Rs. 1,715, taking the new price to Rs. 396,035 up from Rs. 394,320.

At the same time, silver prices also moved upward in the local market. The price of 24-karat silver increased by Rs. 80 per tola, settling at Rs. 7,029.

International Market Trends and Crude Oil Prices

The rise in domestic rates directly reflects shifts in global commodity markets:

  • Global Gold Price: International spot gold gained $20, trading at $4,395 per ounce compared to $4,375 in the last session.

  • Crude Oil Market: Oil prices also climbed as peace talks between the U.S. and Iran hit hurdles and shipping traffic slowed through the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude futures rose to $89.20 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbed to $82.83 per barrel.

Why Are Gold Prices Rising?

Gold is widely regarded as a safe haven during periods of economic uncertainty, rising inflation, and political conflict. When global trade risks increase or currency values fluctuate, investors worldwide move their money into gold, which drives up demand and raises prices in local markets like Pakistan.
